Hygge In the Early Years

Hygge (pronounced hoo-gah) is a Danish word that describes a feeling of coziness, warmth, and contentment. It's a way of life that promotes well-being and happiness, and it's no surprise that it's becoming increasingly popular around the world.

At Butterfly Childcare, I take this concept and apply it to the care of your children. My aim is to create a warm and welcoming environment where your child can feel safe, happy, and content. It's believed that by creating a hygge atmosphere, I can help your child to develop a love of learning, build strong relationships with others, and grow into a confident and well-rounded individual.

My hygge-inspired approach to childcare means that we focus on creating a nurturing environment that promotes play, creativity, and exploration. I believe that children learn best through play, and I provide a range of activities and experiences that encourage your child to explore their interests and develop new skills, based around natures seasons.

Example of what we learn throughout the year...

As a childminder, I prioritise children's interests by observing and following Vygotsky's theory of "scaffolding" their learning. I work with parents and build on what the child already knows to help them learn the next step.

However the children will also have the opportunity to learn and explore all natures treasures, which will vary, depending on the season.
